Fresh Powder
Instead of letting winter get me down, and wishing for spring, I love to find ways of enjoying the beauty of the season. When there is fresh powder, and the right light at the right time of day, finding those shadows and hints of colour - cold blue and warm gold - make getting a little cold all so worthwhile.
Beech Baby
As I wandered through Algonquin Park recently, I was "playing" with a creative lens called LensBaby. It changes the kinds of things you capture when you see them differently. Beech leaves are especially beautiful in the winter, and when you can see them both clearly and softly focused, they provide a unique perspective on life itself.
Golden Crystal Palace
While in Algonquin Park in late February, I was lucky enough to witness the golden hour as it shone through trees that were still under the weight of an ice storm a few days before. The golden sun shone through the ice and magnified the intensity of the colour and brightness, and a fresh layer of snow had been added the day before, providing even more depth of brilliance. This will probably become one of my favourite Christmas cards.

Winter Fairy Land
As though frozen in time, fairies joyfully hold up cloaks of snow and ice, knowing that this is all just part of their life. To slow down, freeze, and then when the sun warms them again in the spring, to continue their dance in the wind.
