Lake Mead

While flying into Las Vegas, I noticed how stark the surrounding landscape was, how colourful, and yet barren. The water levels of Lake Mead have been dropping disastrously over the past couple of decades, simply because of greed. Lake Mead is Las Vegas' main water supply and is draining rapidly. Yes, it's a crime.

Perspective, North of the South

Early morning flight from Auckland to Blenheim, March 2010. Having recently taken flying lessons, it was always interesting to see small airports. The patterns of the topology, rivers and streams and hills and roads were all brought out by the morning sun and shadows. Rectangular property lines and ribbons of meandering rivers intermixed with the intersection of two runways, man and nature competing for the same space.

Painted Terrain

Most people who travel by air, anxious to get to their destination, often fail to notice the incredible scenery below them. Life is not just a destination, it is definitely a journey. Wander often, wonder always. And really think about what it took to create this, it sure isn't manmade.
